NVQ - Bulk Liquid Warehousing at Level 2

The Bulk Liquid Warehousing National Occupational Standards (NOS) are set by COGENT who are the Sector Skills Council for the Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Petroleum and Polymer Industries.

The Bulk Liquid Warehousing Level 2 NVQ has 6 mandatory units, plus 2 from a list of 3 optional units

Mandatory Units

• Monitor and Maintain Equipment and Condition of Bulk Liquid Product
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Maintain product storage conditions
  • Clean and replace product filters
  • Clean equipment used in product transfers
  • Calculate, prepare & add additives to bulk liquid products
    
    
• Prepare Pipelines and Hose
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Rig lines and set valves on pipeline systems
  • Fill pipelines with product
  • Displace pipeline and hose contents
    
    
• Transfer Bulk Liquid Products
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Control the transfer of products
  • Maintain safety during the transfer of products
  • Secure and disconnect connections
    
    
• Provide Product Control Information
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Take samples
  • Take measurements and perform calculations
    
    
• Establish and Maintain Effective Working Relationships
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and visitors
    
    
• Contribute to the Safety of Bulk Liquid Warehousing operations
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Maintain the safety of self and others
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Report incidents, hazardous conditions & emergencies
  • Contribute to the correction of incidents, hazardous conditions and emergencies

  This unit deals with the following:
  • Monitor the measurement equipment

• Clean & Clear Bulk Liquid Storage Tanks
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Empty and de-gas tanks
  • Clean and clear tanks of product
  • Treat and remove tank residues for disposal
    
    
• Package Bulk Liquid Products
  This unit deals with the following:
  • Prepare filling systems and receptacles for use
  • Fill and secure product receptacles
  • Decommission and clean equipment and systems
  • Stow packaged products
